ABOUT MY GOALS FOR THIS PROJECT

The first time I noticed that I, and many others, neglected our wellbeing was during the run-up to year 12 mocks. All around me I saw girls in my boarding house eat little and at irregular intervals, sleep late to study, wake up early to study and use any spare time on Netflix or social media. I also saw people who struggled to study or manage their time efficiently. Most importantly, I noticed that I was surrounded by sad, stressed, overworked and unfulfilled youths.

Obviously, this disturbed me because I realised that I could have been looking in a mirror and found those qualities in myself. It was a little too late to change my attitude in the last few weeks of the last term (which again was not a good attitude to have), but I resolved that over the summer I would get my act together and try to do my best academically whilst doing my best physically and mentally.

Although it was wishful to think that I could be stress-free in year 13, I think that my attempts to better my own wellbeing gave me certain insights into what helps a boarder to stay as healthy as possible. It was then that I had the idea to make this certain "wisdom" (let's not get too cocky) into something tangible, into something that boarders after me could use to their advantage and hopefully help them get through the sixth form. I also know that my experience and tips won't work for everyone so I tried to ask as many people as possible what worked for them. Much to their horror, I also used them as guinea pigs to test some common tips (use your friends to their full potential guys). I also didn't want to make things up out of thin air so I consulted a number of professionals from psychologists and nurses to our own house ma'ams to give me the best guide to wellbeing that wasn't a chore to consult.

I know that work is abundant and that if this is too long winded it won't be read, so after finishing school, ironically, I have scoured a number of sources to give you the essentials. If you want more information, there are plenty of links that I found useful. I'm certain that this will be of use to someone and I wish you all the best in your last years of school. I hope you all can take away some of this advice to university, just as I hope to.
